Emergency and recovery project funded by CAFOD conducted a two days training of Emergency response team from Suguta ward. The main objective of the training is to equip them with knowledge on prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery to emergencies.
Caritas Maralal and Radio Mchungaji 94.5 FM at the 1st Samburu County Resilience Knowledge Fair under the theme: Strengthening Community Learning to increase adaptive capacity to shocks and stresses at Maralal Safari Lodge. Thank you Samburu County and USAID RLA for organizing such an event that created opportunity for partners to showcase and share their initiative’s, experiences and best practices.
Caritas Maralal-MRLP team conducted formation and training of VSLA(village saving and lending association) in Oromoidei and Ntunyus villages in Wamba North ward. A project funded by CAFOD (Catholic Agencies for overseas development) with the objective of empowering women economically.
Caritas Maralal through its Drought Emergency Response project funded by CAFOD distributed food stuff i.e maize flour, beans ,sugar,rice, cooking Oil,cabbages and nutritious food to (pregnant and lactating women) community members from keleshwa (105 HHs)and terter (145HHs)villages. The organisation aims to join hands with other partners and stakeholders in relieving the most vulnerable households from the pangs of the just ended drought menace.
This comes as the 3rd and the last month for distribution. The project was meant to support the community for three months.
Caritas maralal through the VCA-SICRACC project, conducted a two day community dialogue in Samburu North (Ngilai village) on climate change and future of pastoralism. Discussed, were issues on Climate change awareness, cause and effects, the future of pastoralism and local solutions to climate change.
The climax of the community conversation was development of community action plans to guide their development agenda.
The community came to a conclusion of adopting controlled grazing system that to promote pasture regeneration
